Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana
Last summer C and I were dying to get away for a few days. We just wanted a short beach break, somewhere fun in the sun, relaxing…an opportunity for us to reconnect. (No one tells you just how hard it is to be a new parent)
After a bit of research we landed on a 4 day/3 night trip to Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana. It was a nice short flight from Atlanta to Punta Cana.
We arrived to sun, sun and more sun. The property had a car service meet us at the airport and bring us to the resort. The drive itself was a bit sad as the Dominican Republic is quite a poor country. Resorts are luxurious and extravagant, but it made me wonder just how much money goes back into helping the community.
August seems to be off season for them so the resort wasn’t packed with people…it was actually quite nice. Upon check in we were assigned a butler named Ramón. Ramón was the best, showed us to our suite, gave us a low down on the property, activities and places to eat. We had everything we needed, now it was time to have a drink by the pool….you know….our own personal ocean front plunge pool! Ahhhhh! I couldn’t have asked to surrounded by a more tranquil view.
Our room was massive, we had a king sized very comfortable bed with a stand up open shower, a bathtub and then a toilet on the opposite side of the bathroom. You don’t go to these places for the room though. You go for the beach, the views and at this “level of luxury” the food for some part.
The beach at Zoëtry is FABULOUS. It’s cleaned multiple times a day, perfect white sand, unobstructed views of the ocean and just pure relaxation. There were tons of beach chairs on the beach itself, we also had access to umbrellas without a problem. Really no need to get up super early and “reserve” your space. Maybe that’s one of the luxuries of going in “off season.”
Breakfast, the most important meal of the day, was also my favorite meal of the day. We would order breakfast and have it delivered to our room each morning. The spread of food was absolute insanity, but so fresh and delicious. We are early risers (we have a kid) so it was nice to have food ready for us whenever we wanted. Each morning we’d enjoy our breakfast with a view.
Our favorite restaurant of all was Olena, but Amaya was also good. We went to Olena with friends that we met at the resort and ended up having dinner in the wine cellar that Ramón reserved for us. It was super super nice, but also very chill. Make sure if you want dinner in the cellar you ask your butler to reserve it for you ASAP as it seemed to be booked very quickly even during off season.
We really liked this Zoëtry property. I don’t think we’d go here again as we like trying out new things, but it’s a tranquil resort!
Where are you headed to next?
